Wanted: somebody who remembers what the third key on this keyring opens. The first is the front door and the second is the shed, and the third is brass, worn smooth and clearly important to a version of me who is no longer available for comment. I have walked round the house trying it in things for an hour and have only succeeded in locking myself out of the garage.

Two more from this week
  • Free to a good home: a rowing machine, full size, in the sense that it is the size of a boat. It belongs to a household that is finally being honest with itself and the room would quite like to be a room again. Available from the end of the drive in Chearsley, where it is currently being rained on with great dignity.Box C033
  • Lost on the Thame road, probably near the layby: one left walking boot, size nine, brown, laces still tied in the knot of a man in a hurry. How it left the car without the right one is a question my family have decided says something about me generally. The right one is here and is now simply a sad ornament.Box C034
