Rules for anything you send us
These rules cover comments, letters, Lonely Hearts, classifieds, Heard in Haddenham, Ask Philippe, story tips and replies to adverts.
Everything is read first. The editor reads every post before it appears. Some never do, and we do not always say why.
Please do not send:
- anything about a real, private person that they would not want printed;
- anything about a child;
- threats, abuse, or anything that attacks people for who they are;
- anything you know to be false about a real person or business;
- someone else’s phone number, address or email, or your own in a public post;
- adverts for anything illegal, or anything that asks people for money.
Reporting a problem. If you see something on the Herald that breaks these rules, email corrections@haddenham.news with the address of the page. Every reply email from the Herald has a link to report the message or end the conversation. We look at every report and remove anything that breaks these rules. Anything illegal comes down as soon as we know about it, and where the law requires it, we pass it to the police.
Lonely Hearts and replies are for over-18s only. Never send money to someone you have met through the paper, and be careful about sharing your own details.
How long we keep things is set out in our privacy notice.
Something urgent, or about a child? Do not use these forms. The numbers for Buckinghamshire Council and the police are on our contact page.
