An audiologist working at House of Hearing in Thame has raised more than £1,700 for Alzheimer's Society after completing the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday, October 11. Her finishing time was two hours, 11 minutes and 44 seconds.

She chose the charity because of its work on the link between hearing loss and an increased risk of dementia, something she has a personal connection with as she has hearing loss herself. Alzheimer's Society says untreated hearing loss in midlife may raise the risk of developing dementia.

Much of the money came from people she sees at the Thame practice, and the total went past her original fundraising target by £700. She has thanked everyone who donated, including her patients and her colleagues at House of Hearing, and said she wants to encourage people to look after their hearing health.

Anyone who would like to support the cause can donate to Alzheimer's Society, which funds dementia research and support for people living with the condition and their families.
