Remembrance Sunday parade and service in Haddenham on 8 November

Haddenham's annual Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service takes place on Sunday 8th November 2026. The service, organised by Churches Together in Haddenham, begins at 10.15 in St Mary's Church, and is followed outside at the Church End War Memorial by prayers, the laying of wreaths and a two minute silence, starting at around 10.45 to 10.50am.
As in previous years, members of Haddenham's Scouting and Guiding units will parade from Banks Park to St Mary's Church and will attend the service. Everyone is welcome at the War Memorial for the wreath laying and the silence, whether or not they have been inside for the service. There is plenty of room there, and passing traffic will be asked to wait and switch engines off during the silence.
Attendance has grown along with the village in recent years, so a few practical arrangements are in place. Extra chairs are being set out inside the church and the organisers aim to welcome as many people as can safely be accommodated, with priority going to the uniformed children and adults taking part and to anyone with limited mobility. Fire exits will need to be kept clear, and named First Aiders will be on hand. There will also be a covered buggy parking area outside the church on Church End green, with the agreement of Haddenham Parish Council. Space inside is limited, so buggies should be left outside, where a volunteer will help direct people and stay with them, though they are left at the owner's risk. The organisers hope to relay the service by audio into that area so that anyone waiting there can still take part.
The Herald's editor adds that the morning matters to him personally. He is a veteran himself, and comes from a military family in which every member served, including both of his parents and all of his brothers. His eldest brother suffered from PTSD and lost his battle last year.
Haddenham's churches and the Scout and Guide Association have thanked the community in advance for its cooperation with the arrangements for the morning.
