The full list, word for word

Haddenham was in the old Aylesbury Vale district, so all your recycling goes in the blue-lidded wheelie bin, paper and cardboard included. That covers newspaper, magazines and books, envelopes and greeting cards, and cardboard and wrapping paper without foil or glitter, plus plastic bottles, plastic pots, tubs and trays, glass bottles and jars, tins and cans, foil and foil trays, aerosols, and milk, juice and soup cartons. Rinse items first, replace lids on bottles and jars, and keep everything loose rather than bagged.

Food goes in the food caddy: all uneaten food and plate scrapings, raw and cooked meat or fish including bones, dairy, fruit and vegetables, eggs and eggshells, tea bags and coffee grounds, rice, pasta and beans, baked goods and pet food. You can line the caddy with compostable bags, clear plastic or freezer bags, carrier bags, pedal bin liners, salad, bread and cereal wrapping, or newspaper and kitchen roll. Black bin liners, rubble sacks and hard plastic packaging are not accepted, and no liquids such as milk.

Batteries must not go in any bin. Put them loose in a small clear bag on top of any bin on collection day. Vapes also must not go in bins; put them in a clear bag on top of the recycling bin lid on collection day, in a separate bag from the batteries. Small electricals smaller than a shoebox go in a carrier bag on the bin lid on either waste or recycling collection. In the Aylesbury area there is no kerbside collection of clothes and textiles, so take them to a textile bank or a household recycling centre.

Find your collection day

Your day depends on your address, so the council's bin day checker is the only reliable answer. Enter your postcode, pick your address, and it shows your next dates for food waste, general waste, recycling and, if you subscribe, garden waste.

From the same checker you can download a printable collection calendar. The calendar for October 2026 to March 2027 is out now.

Missed bins

Report a missed bin between 6pm on your collection day and midnight the following day. If your collection is on a Friday, you have until Monday. The council aims to come back within 2 working days.

A missed collection only counts if the bin was out by 6:30am on the right day and in the right place. Check the council's list of roads with missed or delayed collections first: if your road is on it, there is no need to report it.

Garden waste

Garden waste is a paid service. It costs £65 a year, you sign up through a My Buckinghamshire account, and first-time subscribers are sent a bin. It is collected every 2 weeks.

The service stops over winter, from 14 December 2026 to 22 January 2027. Collections start again on Monday 25 January 2027 on the usual days.

Grass, hedge and tree cuttings, leaves, small branches up to 10cm across, weeds, dead plants and fallen fruit can go in. No bags, food, soil or plant pots.

Big items

The council collects bulky items for a fee: £65 for 1 to 3 items, £130 for 4 to 6 and £195 for 7 to 9. Book online with the council.

Christmas and bank holidays

The council has not yet published its collection dates for Christmas and New Year 2026. We will put them here as soon as it does. Until then, the bin day checker is the place to look.

The tip at Aston Clinton

The household recycling centre at Aston Clinton is on College Road North, HP22 5EZ. It is open 9am to 4pm every day, bank holidays included, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

There is no need to book. It is free for Buckinghamshire residents who bring proof of address, such as a driving licence or Council Tax bill. The council runs two live webcams so you can see how busy it is before you set off.
